The Blackhawks have signed defensemen Brian Campbell to a 8 year 56.8 million dollar deal. Campbell was the cream of the crop of the defensemen in this free agent class. Many teams wanted him, and the Blackhawks somehow pulled it off. Brian will be earning 7.1 million per season which isn't as bad as the 8.5 million per season being reported before. Brian Campbell was traded to the San Jose Sharks from the Buffalo Sabres at the trade deadline. Camppbell posted 64 points netting 8 goals and had 54 assists. Brian Campbell will now quarterback the Blackhawks' power play and help are defense. Now we have a defensemen and a better goalie, things are looking bright Chicago. Dale Tallon has made the biggest splash in free agency so far (until Marian Hossa sign with somebody. Dale Tallon is having himself a day, and isn't overpaying.

Blackhawks Sign Goalie Cristobal Huet
The Chicago Blackhawks have signed goalie Cristobal Huet to a 4 year 22.5 million dollar deal. Cristobal Huet posted an outstanding 32-14-6 record. At age 32, Huet will be one of the Blackhawks' top 2 goalies. Huet won about 75% of his games last year. He started the year with the Montreal Canadiens and was traded to the Washington Capitals at the trade deadline. I love this signing, and it brings up a huge question. Since Patrick Lalime signed in Buffalo, is Nikolai Khabibulin on his way out of Chicago and is Corey Crawford up from AHL affiliate Rockford? Good job Dale Tallon.
